On December 9, 1506, Hans Lürzer, parish priest in Hofgastein, and his brother Wolfgang Lürzer, a farmer from Radstadt, received permission from the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I to bear a civic coat of arms. The charter is preserved in the Salzburg Museum.
The Lürzer family is a Salzburg noble family. The family traces its origins to the Lürzer family (also spelled Lierzer, Lirzer, or Lürtzer), a farming family originally from Radstadt.
